Wouldn’t it stand to reason that if Nordic countries were more equitable generally, that women athletes would make the same amount of money as men? I tried to look it up, but unlike the USA, Europeans are rather tight light lipped about how much people are paid for some reason. In looking up that information I discovered that WNBA players often play for foriegn teams in the off season or after their WNBA retirement, and that having been in the American pro women’s basketball league gives them the credibility to do that. Sometimes they make more money than the WNBA, but Russian and Chinese plutocrats are generous owners apparently. It has nothing to do with equality.
I think the main problem with your assertion that NBA and WNBA players should have equal pay is that they aren’t doing the same thing. NBA players are playing basketball against men and WNBA players are playing against women. Any random D-III men’s college basketball team would crush a WNBA All-Star team. They are simply that much bigger and stronger. If they were equal they would be playing on the same teams.
