Who would base their trust in a potential employee based solely on meeting them face to face? If someone is just entering the job market, that trust will have to based on their college or high school transcripts. If someone completed their education at a competitive university and got good grades, that proves that they worked hard enough and were responsible enough at that university to achieve good grades and graduate. If the job seeker worked at other jobs, that’s when references comes into play. There’s also the matter of background checks, and what they say that might reveal something about someone’s character, or lack thereof. That someone is “warm” and appears trustworthy during the interview means nothing unless they have the paperwork to back it up.
