Whether people own a house or condo, or live in a rented dwelling, they are looking at THE INSIDE of the house the vast majority of the time. I don't see any arguments here that these boxy developments are unsafe or unsecure, or that they lack basic neccessities like water, sewage, electricity, HVAC, or fiber optic, just that they are ugly. Most of those old buildings that are so cool to look at were horrible to live and work in, not to mention the asbestos and lead paint. By the way, rural towns that have a main street downtown and 19th and early 20th Century buildings look exactly the same from FLA to Maine on the East Coast, unless they have an interesting church or courthouse. We can't all have a Chrysler Building.
