When I was teaching high school in the ninties and aughts a lot of kids thought they were going to be entertainers and professional athletes. A couple of kids who did nothing but practice their instruments and sing, and even spent countless hours busking on a street corner or in a coffee shop, and performing for happy hours and charity events, are now making a living as an entertainer. It was hard work in other words that led to the desired outcome. Here is the key part: They were better than the others who wanted the same thing.
The problem with many youngsters today, and the reason why they might have problems with capitalism, is that when everyone gets a trophy it makes them afraid of competition. But just because they don't want to compete doesn't mean that there aren't others in their age group preparing to beat them all the same.
