War is not a matter of greater numbers of soldiers, but of the quality of those soldiers. While the Afghan army was riding around in armored Humvees, which the Taliban have now by the way along with all of the other "best" weapons, eating halal MREs, the rugged Pashtun warriors were walking 50 miles a day through mountains in flip flops on a handful of grain. The Taliban are from a culture which is horrible for women and civilization, but creates great fighters who live for war. It's easy to call someone a coward until you face an enemy like that.
