“Today Western civilization is in its closing phase.”

That’s a pretty bold claim, and I don’t really see any proof of it in this essay. Because people eat too many Twinkies? Because politics in a democracy aren’t a smooth running love fest? It’s not supposed to be. If you had written that in 1942, I would imagine that a lot of people would have agreed with you since it sure seemed that way at the time. Now that we live in the most peaceful, prosperous time in human history, the end of Western Civilization is happening all of a sudden? The business about the couple not wanting to take responsibility for their child is ludicrous. The young people I know including my own children are super intentional about child rearing. That they don’t typically have 6 or 7 kids like when I was growing up, and that both parents share responsibilities makes this possible. The only horrors to come are the mental breakdowns of all of these chuckleheads who think the World is ending, and why should they take responsibility for themselves since everything is going to end soon?
