There isn't just polarization in politics. People are also different religions or atheists. Some people like Marvel, and other people like DC. People like different sports teams, and even different sports. Some people like Budweiser, and other people like beer. The fact of the matter is that everyone is different, and about a third of eligible voters skipped the 2020 election because they obviously don't give a shit about politics, so that is a whole different group unto themselves. The real problem arises when the differences cause people to shoot at each other and blow things up. Not that they might do those things, but that they are. Until then it's just another day at the office because the two parties have always been at each others throats rhetorically. It's their job to win elections, and that's how you do it.

There are at least 40 different political parties contesting elections in this country, but only two of them have enough supporters to get anyone elected. So go ahead and start another party, just keep in mind that there are already a couple of marijuana parties. States can basically conduct their elections anyway they like, so any change in the election process starts with your state. Incumbent state reps and senators will throw any plan for a system that makes it harder for them to get re-elected right in the trash can by the way, because why wouldn't they?
