The quality of the writing on the internet is not as high as published materials from the olden days because there is no editor. Things that got printed in the past went through a formal editing process, and in fact many, many writers hated that because the editor, who did this for a living, changed their stuff although usually for the better. Generally the quality of writing on this website is actually pretty good, considering it's just a bunch of randos.

"...social media can easily lead us to constructing delusional ideas about ourselves as activists and political revolutionaries." That is absolutely true and you see it on Medium every day. People who can't do a pushup are ready for revolution. People who don't know their neighbors want a community. People holding a device made of petroleum and conflict minerals, and running on electricity want to save the environment. People who can't clean up after themselves want justice. People who don't get along with their family are worried about strangers a thousand miles away. People who hold the government in contempt want it to fix all the problems. You have to get people together in real life and they have to open their wallets to get anything accomplished.
