The only ways that you can change someone else's behavior is to reward them, sue them, or hold a gun on them. You can only get a lawsuit going if some lawyer is going to make a lot of money, and rewarding people will result in others expecting a reward every time the behavior is exhibited. Only the government can hold a gun on people. So to improve outcomes for ourselves, we have to do something as individuals. Waiting for everyone else to get with the program will not result in a positive outcome since that will never happen. If we want people to treat us better, we have to change our behavior or possibly move on to other people. Guilt tripping others is a non-starter. They have their reasons for everything that supports their own self interests.

Being one of them, I know a lot of older people, and the ones that have children and grandchildren are happier and less lonely than the ones that don't. Funny how that works.
