That's ridiculous unless you know the secret to time travel. Previous generations left us the vast majority of the built world we live in now. They also left us amazing technology, schools, art treasures, and life saving medicine. We are living comfortably and safely thanks to them. We'll probably never replicate the amount of wealth our forebears created, especially if you are not just counting money value. Future generations haven't done shit since they don't exist, and when they do show up they get the internet, the Interstate, penicillin, cars, air conditioning, and our houses.
The Goathand Co-op hasn't posted on their blog for over a year, so I'm not sure that they are still creating wealth. Not a lot of people are doing that sort of thing for a reason. If you put in volunteer time working to move a project forward, and then other people involved lose interest or are just incompetent and the project fails, you just got robbed for the time you put in, since your only payment was seeing the project completed.
