The CEO of OceanGate Stockton Rush, who was operating the submersible Titan and was killed during the implosion, previously bragged that he didn't rely on 50 year old white guys with military experience to operate his subs because they are not "inspiring'.

Way to be woke dude.

Director James Cameron has been to the Titanic wreck site 33 times and even to much deeper places in the ocean, but he uses his own personal submersibles. Being worth $700 million means that Cameron doesn't have to cut corners and take the trip in a plastic sub built by a guy who didn't think that safety or using experienced submariners was important. Billionaire Shahzada Dawood could have done the same thing, or bought or rented a tried and tested submersible crewed by people who knew what they were doing since there are many of both out there, but he we was cheap and as a result killed himself and his son.
