The average age of an American soldier killed in WW II was around 26. The vast majority of people who have died from Covid-19 were elderly, as in over 70. Along with the hundreds of thousands of young soldiers who were killed on purpose by Axis forces during the war, there were millions who were maimed or suffered psychological illnesses. It's impossible to compare the human toll because you're talking about two completely different groups of people, one of whom had their whole lives ahead of them and the other who was near the end no matter how you look at it. I have a father is in his nineties who is still living independently and is out and about in the community every day with his hated mask on. He knows his number is up soon no matter what he does, so he's not going to hide in his condo for the rest of his life.
