The acrimony in the political process is a feature not a bug for a lot of people. And without acrimony, how would anything change since people aren't going along with anything that is opposed to their self interests? If people can use acrimony to get ahead in politics or any field, they will because it's effective. Everyone harbors a little bitterness about something or someone, so you just have to find the sore spot to get them doing what you want. Also, believing that you are absolutely right and that those morons are trying to destroy the country, feels good. It's like you're a hero fighting evil, which of course is BS.
