Thanks for your thoughtful answer, but there is no such thing as the "the masses". The whole idea that there is some kind of class consciousness is magical thinking. If it can't be measured it's a bunch of BS. In the USA there are over 300 million individuals, and I believe that you vastly underestimate the number of people who benefit from capitalism. There are 18.6 millionaires in the USA, and for them to give up their money and their stuff there's going to be a lot of shooting. I'm a blue collar worker, and if someone sought to impose socialism on this country I would be shooting too. No one is sticking me in some labor army, because all of my associations and labors are completely at my discretion. Does socialism come with Las Vegas? If not, screw it.

If the "capitalist paradigm" were to suddenly collapse, get ready for the Mad Max world. Socialism would not arise out of that situation, rather it would be something like the Taliban. The strongest and most ruthless would be in the driver's seat.
