Switzerland, which appears on both lists and is at the top of the free-est list, is not even remotely socialist. They are highly privatized and have a decentralized government. All of these countries including Finland have billionaires. 68% of Finns belong to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, and the other Scandanavian countries have national churches of which most of their citizens are members. That would certainly affect their views about social programs, but it is never mentioned in these articles about how wonderful they are because it is impossible to adopt here, like many other elements of their societies.
