Slavery ended in 1865, and the average lifespan for a man in 1917 was around fourty. Do the math.

"Revolutionary governments might, for example, have great public transportation, community-based agriculture, and far less military and police spending."

That's like saying that a revolutionary government might have flying cars for all and champagne flowing out of fountains. It's much more likely that they would be like the vast majority of revolutionary governments in the last couple of centuries and be a miserable police state with enforced poverty who drove workers worse than the capitalists for more meager rewards. You need to bone up on your history before you tackle this stuff.
