Robert E. Lee's dress sword is a beaut, made in France and covered in gilt and diamonds. It is was the one he was wearing when he surrendered to Grant, and it is presently on display in a museum in Appomattox. Contrary to legend, Lee never offered it to Grant, and Grant never asked for it. I wonder where Lee's battlefield sword is? I have seen JEB Stuart's French cavalry saber which is a monster and an actual man killer, with his brace of massive LeMats pistols that he was wearing when he was killed at the Battle of Yellow Tavern. George Armstong Custer was a Civil War rockstar, and a lovely Tiffany's presentation saber he recieved during the war from his regiment is on display at Little Big Horn, where it should be.
