Perhaps women considered the harshness of the jobs harrasment. New workers get the worst jobs, and it takes hard people to do a hard job. But yes, I'm sure the affluent white women who broke barriers for the professions never even considered crawling around in a shit water filled ditch in freezing weather to fix a broken sewer line no matter how much it paid. I know plumbing contractors that are quite wealthy, but they all started that way.

Only people who get a college degree, then score well on the LSATs, and can get a pile of money for law school have any hope of becoming an attorney. Anyone can climb in that ditch with repair tools and parts to repair that pipe, if they are willing to learn how to do the work and deal with the harshness. Even most men aren't willing to do it, which is why there are wealthy plumbers.
