"Our problem, as a species, is that our primary tool of communication and therefore of structured thought is hopelessly inadequate."

The same species that built Machu Pichu, the Interstate highway system, and a 737? The same species that produced the Gutenberg Bible, the Sistine Chapel, and the Taj Mahal? The same species that is categorizing every single one of the millions of forms of life on the planet? Apparently, but of course there is nothing to compare humans against really. Inadequate compared to what? We are what we are.

Everyone knows that some people are more intelligent than others, but what each of us knows is only important in a given situation. If your commode is clogged, what a professor in philosophy knows is useless to you. And all of us know things that others don't know. Of course a lot of what any of us know is pretty useless. Can you make money from what you know? If the answer is "No.", then it literally has no value to anyone else, only to you. Of course you and I can use that knowledge to rejoinder here on Medium, but that's for fun.
