"Of course, this doesn't concern our so-called representatives because they are part of the wealthy elite."
Over half of the US Congress are millionaires, but the average median net worth of Congress is only around a million dollars. That's chicken feed. Only one person, Senator Rick Scott (R) of Florida is worth over a quarter of a billion dollars, followed by Mark Warner (D) of Virginia who is almost worth that much. Scott went to college on the GI Bill and started making serious money by reviving a failing donut shop, before he became involved with HMOs. Warner started in politics while he was a student at George Washington University in DC. He struck it rich by being an early venture capitalist in digital communications. They are both in the elite now, but neither started that way. You can just make believe whatever you want though.
There is a national organization called Focus on the Family that has been around since 1977.

Since they tend to be somewhat homophobic evangelical Christians, not everybody rallied around them. The Democrats have Planned Parenthood on their side, but the type of family planning they do tends to eliminate a lot of potential voters.
