No one would ever know if the human race went extinct, unless you believe in the supernatural. The ultimate existential threat to all of us is our absolutely certain ultimate demise, no matter how it comes. Most people reading this will be dying from cardio-respiratory failure or cancer no matter what they do. You are welcome to make changes in your own life so that the strangers who haven’t even been concieved yet can have a nicer future, but I’m more concerned about the people that are alive now, and taking care of myself so that no one else has to do it. Head’s up, I’ve been alive for a while and the future isn’t going to turn out the way you think it is. We have virtually no control over what will happen because not all of the externalities are known or even imagined. The only thing that is certain is that you’re going to die, and I’m going to die, and it’s going to be bad because it always is. Before that happens, worry more about living this life and the lives of the folks around you than the lives of the make believe people of the future. We don’t owe them shit.
