My oldest child is in their early thirties and has lived in six different cities including for college. I've voted in five states and the District of Columbia. We have not lived in the same area since they left for school. No one stays anywhere long enough to worry about it sinking or burning, so the idea that someone who choses to live in Miami is making their children suffer in silly. In the USA people moving for a variety of reasons is part of the culture. No one is stuck in the flooding village here. People will call the movers or get a U-Haul and go if they have to.
