My Northern city has had a Juneteenth Celebration in a square downtown for years. There are civic organizations with booths set up, vendors, music, dance, jump rope, food trucks, black Civil War reenactors, and speechs. There is a pretty great Frederick Douglass interpreter. I'm not black, but I have never felt anything but welcome at this celebration through the years, particularly when I spend some money there. I love that Jamaican jerk chicken truck!
