Most people in Pennsylvania have never seen an ancient forest, but I have visited Cook’s Run State Park near Clarion which has the most important stand of virgin forest in the state at almost 2,000 acres, and I could not tell the difference between that and Allegheny National Forest which is nearby, and all of that is at least 2nd growth. Yes, a ranger or forester would probably be able to tell the difference.
