It seems a shame to spend a lot of time drinking and not to be getting any pleasure out of it. Booze ain't cheap these days. If I really wanted to blot out the world, I'd make a pitcher of vodka dirty martinis or rye Manhattans with fancy cherries in the appropriate glassware, or maybe a dark rum Pain Killer or five in a ceramic Tiki mug with nutmeg and a paper umbrella. Then put on some Sinatra, Son House, or Ernest Tubb, and go down the drain in style. No matter how terrible things may get, the great art that man and womakind have made will be there for you until you go.
