In Allegheny County including the City of Pittsburgh last year, there were 129 people murdered last year, 105 black and 24 white victims. It was a record. A quarter were under the age of 20, including 15 year old Marquis Cambell who was a special education student at a special education school who was shot to death by two attackers while in a special education van in front of the school. That was a year and half ago, and finally two brothers 17 and 18 are in custody. Another student was killed in front of the same school in April this year. The shooters from the mass shooting that killed two teens and wounded 11 at a house party on the Northside on Easter 2022 are still unkown, even though one of the guns they used killed two other people in Wilkinsburg.

Like most of the country, the Pittsburgh Police clearance rate for homicide is right around 50%, so that means that the killers of 65 people last year and more this year, most of them black, are going to get away with it and be ready to kill again. That's today, not ten years ago.
