I'm not quite 70 yet, but I remember when two men holding hands or a mixed race couple in public would have been beaten up or shot. I saw hippy kids dragged into a barber shop and forced to get a hair cut. I don't see a greater amount of incivility, but I'm not looking for it. I approach people with a smile and a kind word and generally get the same thing in return.

I'm a bicyclist, and I can tell you that driving an automobile can turn anyone into an asshole. Trump didn't invent road rage.
