I'm a bicyclist, and while I lived in Eastern Virginia I met a Dutch cyclist who worked in a tulip greenhouse with four other Dutch people and about 100 Mexican immigrants. Seriously. In any case, I asked the gentleman how he liked cycling in Virginia versus Holland, and he said that he much preferred VA. This surprised me since Holland has a reputation as a cycling Mecca, and I asked him why. "Do you know about our windmills?" he asked. I answered in the affirmative, and he said "Riding in the wind all the time sucks." I had never considered that before, but having cycled at the beach frequently I had to concur. You struggle into the wind one way, and fly the other way. Crosswinds threaten to push you into motor vehicles or off the road. When the wind is really going, it's flat out dangerous to ride since your body acts like a sail. So take riding in the wind off the list. It's not relaxing.
