If only the audience knows that Patrick Bateman routinely tortures women and dismembers people, why does Bryce choke on his drink when Bateman says “…most importantly, we have to promote general social concern, and less materialism in young people.”? Because anyone that says that sort of thing in an exclusive expensive restaurant while dressed in designer clothes is full of shit. That the hypocrisy is not obvious to everyone at the table is because they’re morons. We’re not all becoming Patrick Bateman, but a lot of people who believe elites when they say they care about others are those morons. Of course that is nothing new because people are easily fooled by a pretty face.
