I was a high school teacher for over 20 years and never saw anything like Richard Williams. Parents like that are extremely rare. What I have seen are parents that put up a whole lot of money and do a whole lot of driving around to allow their child to pursue a sports dream that is very unlikely to come to fruition. They'll buy all of the equipment, and pay for and drive to all of the camps and tournaments, and watch as their child rises up the ranks and starts getting beaten by better players. And then there is a pile of hockey gear in the basement gathering cobwebs.
