I think that lying right to someone’s face is about as disrespectful as you can get, but if you don’t mind someone spinning some story to you to milk some of your hard earned money out of your wallet, I guess it’s your business. I’ve had street people hit me with the same fabrication, remarkably similar in every detail, multiple times. I guess I have a common face, or perhaps they aren’t even paying attention. I had one fellow near Union Station in DC hit me up for Metro fare to New Carrollton over the course of several years with exactly the same hard luck story, only the fare went up. I kicked in the first time.
