I don't see how what the "strict father" ideology theory has to do with the side that doesn't want to be told to wear a mask and get a vaccination, or whether they can own a firearm, or how to run their business, or turn their money over to the government, or even how they have to address people. The left is the side that wants more laws and regulations, and wants the federal patriarch to take over more of their lives. The Trump administration was all about deregulation.

If right wingers were asked to describe their own ideology they would probably use the word "Freedom" a lot, but it doesn't appear in this essay.
