I don't know what the context is here. Where do wealthy and non-wealthy people have personal relationships with each other where a wealthy individual could be fooled into believing that someone was wealthy that wasn't? At the bus stop? Bowling alley? Public swimming pool? In the work place some people have seen your resume, so not there. Half of what anyone says at a bar is bullshit that is forgotten after enough drinks anyway, so not there. Where this really falls down is in the education part. Many wealthy people attended prep schools and highly competitve colleges, and grad school. A degree from a state teachers' college with a D-III football team isn't going to fool anyone. If you are waiting on a person's table, waxing their Beemer, or carrying their golf clubs, it's not going to work either.

I know this may sound amazing, but most wealthy people I have known personally didn't care that I'm not wealthy. Our relationship has nothing to do with our money or lack thereof. No one buys me drinks or food unless I can reciprocate, and I don't care how rich they are. Everyone keeps score on that stuff, rich or poor.
