I am a regular consumer of foriegn media. Japanese yakuza and samurai films aren't violent? Have you seen any Korean crime or war films? Italian mafia films are really, really good, and also really, really violent. Bollywood films have violence in them. Even the Germans make violent war films now. Every other country isn't just making another version of Downtown Abbey. For a story to be entertaining there has to be a conflict to be resolved, and violence is extreme conflict. West Side Story has violence in it.

The Uvalde shooter's nickname at the Wendy's where he worked was school shooter, because of the way he dressed and behaved. He wasn't copying something from a movie, but something from real life, as presented by our news media.
