Here in Pennsylvania the Commonwealth has a monopoly on liquor sales, and boy are they raking it in thanks to Covid. Online sales are six times normal and curbside pick-up has cars lined up to get their booze. The Liquor Control Board is breaking all sales records.
A societywide measure to reduce alcohol abuse might be to have the state stop dispensing booze to society, but Harrisburg loves that revenue. Other states do too, even if they aren't selling it and just collecting the sin tax.
