If a person with an Irish surname is in the news as a result of something that doesn't involve drunkeness, fighting, a ridiculous story, an attempt to do the impossible, or general hooliganism, I feel like they are letting the side down. The people most likely to use offensive slurs and offensive jokes about the Irish are the Irish themselves, since we don't have self-esteem issues like the others. The Irish don't have to virtue signal since we know that we would be ruling the entire world if the good Lord hadn't invented alcohol.
