Florian, thanks for your thoughtful response. As a former public high school teacher of over twenty years, I will say that some public schools are quite good, and others are an absolute waste of tax money who are doing more harm to their students than providing a benefit. If you want a good school, have good students. That’s nothing new though. Education will not advance society, but it certainly will advance individuals just as it always has. After a year and a half of lockdown, kids from affluent families who have well educated parents just jumped way ahead of all the kids whose parents didn’t have much luck with their education, and couldn’t provide their kids with the help they needed to keep up while watching school on Zoom.
What difference does it make if someone thinks the Earth is flat? I doubt that someone like that would work for an airline or Google Earth. It’s more amusing than anything else, and everyone I’ve ever met has at least one ludicrous, non-rational belief. I’ve heard from a lot of anti-vaxxers that on paper have excellent educations. All the best.
