"(Drummers) are typically overshadowed by the frontman and lead guitarist unless they have names like Neil Peart, Ginger Baker, or Ringo Starr."

Or Levon Helm, or Don Henley, or Keith Moon, or John Bonham, or Dave Grohl, or Bill Bruford, or Karen Carpenter, or Don Brewer, or Phil Collins, or Ian Paice, or Buddy Rich, or Sheila E., or Cozy Powell, or lars Ulrich, or Buddy Miles...

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. The perussionists do in fact stand out if they are extraodinarily good.

Mr. Carter made a horrible professional mistake when he left the E Street Band. Jazz fusion was an 1970s trend that went nowhere. Sometimes we have to check our egos to get ahead.

By the way, the Rock Hall doesn't have Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Judas Priest, the MC5, the New York Dolls, Grand Funk Railroad, or a host of other bands that were influential and/or sold a shit ton of records in it. A drummer that played a year and a half with a band that didn’t really hit it big until after he left isn't going to rate. But, yes, they suck.
