Don't hesitate to just throw stuff away if you can't find someone who will come and pick it up and put it to good use who isn't a hoarder. Worrying about what happens to an object after it leaves your hands is something you're going to have to get over. It's just an inanimate thing that doesn't care what is happening to it or where it is going. No one else cares what happens to it either, unless it belongs to them or they gave it to you as a gift.

Don't think "I bet I could sell this on E-bay!" because unless online sales is something you are already doing, it will never happen. If you are donating an item to a thrift store or selling it through a consignment shop, you are merely turning your problem into someone else's.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get the contractor garbage bags. They are worth the extra money. You are already paying for the removal service which you recieve from the sanitation department or contractor. right at your home. It will all be just fine in a landfill.
