“Do not interrupt me, and I will not disrupt you” is functionally the watchword of a society in this state."

Isn't that what we're shooting for? Nothing there says that people can't voluntarily work together. I don't want to interrupt or disrupt someone because they are a different race, or religion, or gender, or lifestyle, or because they are doing something that I don't particularly like but that doesn't affect me. When you are not interrupting or disrupting others they have this thing called "Freedom". They are free to be decadent or not as they wish. When everyone is yoked together in some big collective whatsis with a purpose is when the really bad things happen.
