Culture war now is just blah, blah, blah on social media. In the 1960s and 70s I saw police officers drag a kid with long hair into a barbershop and make them get a hair cut. Construction workers used to jump hippies and beat them up. During the Vietnam War when over 50,000 Baby Boomers were killed, hundreds of thousands wounded, and millions traumatized fighting in a freakin' jungle, there were demonstrations on every single college campus.

Compulsory school busing? Race riots? I knew people that had polio. There were thousands of political bombings in the USA in the 1970s, and urban terrorists. The Mafia was still a major thing, and crime was much worse than today. Women, racial minorities, gay people, and people with disabilities were all still socially and even legally second-class citizens. Before the EPA, the country was incredibly polluted, and people threw garbage anywhere.

I'll see your micro-aggression, and raise you a Watergate and a Gas Crisis.
