Comparing anything going on today to World War I would indicate that the person doing it doesn't know anything about World War I. There were 15,000,000 causalties on the Western Front alone, and that doesn't include the huge campaigns on the Eastern Front, the Balkans, Italy, the Middle East and Africa. And along with each one went starvation and dead civilians. There was also the strategic bombardment of London by Zeppelins and aircraft, and unrestricted submarine warfare. There was a revolution in Russia, and in Ireland. The Spanish Flu was much worse than Covid.
When some asks me how I am, I say that I'm doing great. I have food in the refrigerator and a safe and comfortable place to lay my head every night. I have work to do, and friends and family. I am certainly fine compared to someone living in Ukraine, or Cuba, or Sri Lanka, or someone trapped in a lockdown during an earthquake in China. I am fine compared to someone who is sick or has a disability. If you don't see people on occaision that make you think "And I thought that I had problems." you are blind or have no heart.
