Can we please stop saying this: "Though most people don’t have dementia later in life..." I'm in my sixties, and every person in my age group that I know either has a parent with dementia, or had one that has passed away. Everyone except for perhaps a tiny number of folks who will retain their full mental facilities are going to have major cognitive decline if they live long enough. A lot of it will be disguised by their loss of their sight and hearing, but it will happen to most people. The problem is that they won't know it, and they will not be receptive to the idea that they need treatment or a new living situation. It would behoove everyone to assume that they will lose their mind as they age, and prepare accordingly with their family.
