Black students are at Harvard at a higher proportion than there are black people as a proportion of the US population, 15.3% versus 12.1%. Hispanics form 18.7% of the US population but only 11.3% of the Harvard Class of 2026. Asians form only 5.9% of the US population, but 29.9% of this year's freshman class, and as I said the enrollment for them increased this year. At 41% of the class, whites are far out of proportion, since 57.8% of the US population is white.
But I went to a state college, and as far as I'm concerned Harvard can do whatever it wants since it is a private institution. I feel the information I shared was relevant to the article, and also that discrimination based on race or ethnicity against any person for any reason by any institution is wrong.
